The last and final episode of season 3 of Netflix’s Narcos: Mexico shows us the downfall of literally everything; courtesy of General Rebollo. The government of Mexico tightens its grip over the cartels of Sinaloa, Guadalajara, and Tijuana; everyone but Juárez is caught by the officials. All thanks to Amado Carrillo Fuentes. He was the one paying off this particular government official. Thanks to the investigative work of reporter Andrea Nuñez we got to know so much about all this. But is Narcos Mexico ending for good? is yes how? Here are all the answers you’ll need.

Narcos: Mexico – a spinoff

The hit Netflix franchise made its way to Mexico after spending a span of 3 seasons in Colombia. Following the death of Pablo Escobar, it was now time to trace the modern druglords in the streets of Mexico City. The first two seasons of Narcos: Mexico depict the times under Gallardo; before him, the markets were open and run by individual growers and dealers. Gallardo changed all that, bringing in the plaza system which ultimately gave rise to the cartels that are shown in season 3 of the show.

At the end of season two of Narcos: Mexico, Felix says, ‘You guys may think I’m a problem. But I was actually keeping things in line. You’re going to miss me.’ And this season is kind of about proving his point,” co-creator Carlo Bernard says. “I used to joke with Eric that the only thing worse than organized crime is disorganized crime. And that’s what you’re seeing in terms of the chaos and the violence and the upheaval that this season ushers in.”

Narcos Mexico – the final chapter

Season 3 of the Netflix Original brings the story right to the point where we can connect it with the current world. The third season of the series is all about the new bosses from the cartels set-up to fill the power vacuum of Gallardo’s place: Amado Carillo Fuentes of Juárez; Benjamín ; Ramón and Enedina Arellano Félix of Tijuana; and Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán of Sinaloa.

With the events of this final season, the audience will see the globalization of the drug war that we all witness today; it also gives us a much clear understanding of how this whole thing works; and thus it will justify the Narcos Mexico ending.

I saw this season as an origin story of the modern world that we live in,” explains Bernard. “For me, it felt like bringing the show up to that spot where we now recognize, for better or for worse, made sense as a place to stop it. The show has been able to lift the curtains and show you how this thing began, how it evolved. Not to say that other stories wouldn’t be compelling going forward. But to me, stopping at the moment where we had delivered the world that we now live in today made sense, thematically and narratively.
