Emmy award-winning filmmaker Ryan Murphy is back with another mind-blowing series. And by mind-blowing, we mean literally. The show he has brought for Netflix’s viewers shows the story of a Monster, a real-life one. And not just anyone, but a famous American Serial killer, who was not just a killer, but a sex offender and a cannibal too. Doesn’t the trailer already give you chills? The show, as you might have suspected by now, is based on the life of American serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer. It was released on the streaming giant this week. However, it has already received mixed reviews and criticism from the family of one of Dahmer’s victims.

Victims are pissed at the Netflix show based on Dahmer

The makers have tried to make the show as realistic as possible. However, every time a show that is made on a real-life character is made, it requires the spme research and testimonials of the witnesses. Dahmer was detained in Milwaukee in 1991 after being charged with several killings of youths and young men. The 1992 trial is covered in the series, which also recreates a genuine moment in which victim Errol Lindsey’s elder sister Rita Isbell confronts Dahmer in court.

About ten shows have already been made on Jeffrey Dhamher’s life, and the relatives were interviewed each time. This has extremely angered the family of the victims. One of the cousins of Rita Isabell, Eric, took his sister’s stand and said, “I know true crime media is huge rn, but if you’re actually curious about the victims, my family (the Isbell’s) are pissed about this show.”

However, more relatives of murder victims have started speaking out against films and television shows they believe to be exploitative, and real crime material is now being scrutinized much more.
