Despite having thousands of fans cheering for Millie Bobby Brown, it can still get a little bit lonely for the young star. Growing up in front of the camera has its cons and pros and Millie being a child star transitioning to teenage roles now has experienced it all. In a recent interview with Allure, the 18-year-old opens up about her struggle with self-identity and fame.

Millie Bobby Brown felt misunderstood and lonely

Eleven was her breakout role, but she had appeared on countless other shows before Stranger Things happened. The actress explained that she liked playing different characters because it helped her not think about herself. She always felt too mature than the rest of her peers, and always felt the odd one out in a room. But stepping into others’ shoes helped because she felt like people understood her character even if they didn’t relate to the person Millie was.

“Going back to what I said earlier about being kind of very lonely in who I was and feeling like no one was quite like me in school and no one was as mature as I was, [hearing that] was really hard because I thought [maturity] was a good thing.” she shared.

She always knew she was mature but didn’t know how to be otherwise. While she considered her maturity a good trait a casting director had told her otherwise. But that is exactly what helped her bag the role in Stranger Things
