Mic Drop Moment! One Year After Will Smith Slapped Chris Rock, The Comedian Hits Back at The Netflix Live Special, Breaking The Internet
Many may have initially thought it was all a part of the joke when Will Smith slapped Chris Rock in the face for making fun of his wife during Oscars 2022, but when they found out it was not, things did not turn out to be well. While the entire Smith family had to face the repercussions, with the Academy also banning King Richard actor for an entire decade, Rock did not make many comments.
Following the incident, the comedian did make a few sly jokes about it on his year-long tour but seemingly refused to do any interviews or answer the media. Now, after almost a year, and ahead of the 2023 Academy Awards, Rock broke his silence. And when he did, he made sure to hit Will Smith back hard at the Netflix Live show. “Anybody who says words hurt has never been punched in the face,” he apparently alluded to the slap in the opening moments, promising a ‘no offense to anyone’ show.
