Since the beginning of Prince Harry’s relationship with Meghan Markle, royal watchers and the tabloids have constantly pitied the former actress with her sister-in-law Kate Middleton. A comparison is often drawn between the Duchess of Sussex and the Princess of Wales because of their dresses, their behavior, public appearances, and speeches.

Facing criticism for wearing similar kinds of outfits as Kate Middleton is nothing new for Meghan Markle. People have once again found a similarity in the style of the two sisters-in-law. It might surprise you that this time the Sussex royal is being accused of copying Middleton’s wedding dress.

Meghan Markle wore a similar wedding dress as Kate Middleton

Before tying the knot with Prince Harry, Meghan Markle entered a matrimonial bond with film producer Trevor Engelson. The two got married to each other at a beachside wedding in Jamaica in September 2011 after a dating period of six years. For the ceremony, the Suits alum donned the wedding gown, which was quite similar to Kate Middleton’s reception dress. The two ladies wore a white, strapless gown with a shiny silver belt.

Interestingly, Kate and Prince William’s wedding took place in April 2011. Thus, it is difficult to say if Markle took inspiration from Middleton to style her wedding gown. Meanwhile, it can also be a coincidence as the former American actress has often clarified that she did not know anything about the royal family before meeting Prince Harry. Being an American, the Duchess’s knowledge of the House of Windsor was not even the bare minimum and thus she had a lot of learning to do. 

Markle and Trevor filed for a divorce in 2013, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason. It is believed that the legal drama Suits was the major reason behind the fallout. The show required the actress to reside in Toronto, while Trevor could not leave Los Angeles.

The actress took the plunge for the second time in May 2018 at a grand ceremony with Prince Harry. The couple is now living in Montecito, California, and has two children, namely Archie and Lilibet.
