With Halloween around the corner, creepy films have begun making their way to Netflix. One director, in particular, is quite renowned for dark comedy films, i.e. Tim Burton. One of Burton’s renowned films, the 1996 American blockbuster, Mars Attacks, is now on Netflix. The story develops around humans and Martians. Martians have attacked Earth with unstoppable weapons and a weird sense of humor.

The cast of Mars Attacks

The film Mars Attacks features an amazing cast including Jack Nicholson, Glenn Close, Annette Bening, Sarah Jessica Parker, Tom Jones, Lukas Haas, Natalie Portman. The acting of the entire cast was amazing, which is one of the main reasons this film is such a blockbuster of its time. But the most astonishing performance is by Lisa Marie, who has done impressive, attention-grabbing scenes in Mars Attacks. Her silent cameo is one of the most dynamic performances in the entire film.

Lisa Marie as “dead Marilyn Monroe”

The Martian Girl in Mars Attacks, played by Lisa Marie, is the only live actor who acts as a Martian. A computer generates all the other Martians in the Mars Attacks.

She had done a similar role in “Ed Wood” in 1994, playing the hostess Vampira of the 50s, with her trademark black fishtail gown, enormous eyes, long wig, and eyebrows winging off her forehead. However, she grabbed more attention in Burton’s Mars Attacks.

Lisa Marie features as a silent and deadly martian girl in a clinging, skin-tight gown, a huge blonde wig to cover her Martian brain, and gigantic eyes. She acts like a dead Marilyn Monroe sexpot who wants to enter the White House. In Mars Attacks, she plays an undercover agent who was sent to assassinate President James Dale.

While this may not beat Tim Burton’s other films, like Batman, Batman Returns, Edward Scissorhands, Corpse Bride, Dark Shadows, Alice in Wonderland, or Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, it certainly has its unique charm.
