Kanye West Once Brought a Jesus Look-Alike on Stage to Send Out a Message – “you can talk to Jesus”
Kanye West and his shenanigans, like him or not, touch a whole new level of uniqueness. And we have all read the manual about criticizing anyone that doesn’t fit the norm. But that isn’t Kanye West’s story. The rapper has gotten himself into trouble for valid reasons such as calling Death con 3 on Jews and claiming that George Floyd was not actually murdered. However, before Ye was involved in history-altering controversies and national debates, he was on a completely different path.

Remember the 2019 argument that Ye had with now ex-wife Kim Kardashian about her rib-tight corset dress? That did not come out of nowhere. Kanye West is actually very religious. And contrary to popular belief, Jesus is King was not the first album where he incorporated his religious beliefs into his craft. Before the release of the album and the subsequent Sunday Service that followed, Ye was using another method to share the message of Christianity with his friends.
Before dedicating an album, Kanye West called a Jesus lookalike on stage
In 2013, Kanye West dropped his chart-topping album Yeezus named after what the rapper calls his “God name“. The rapper’s sixth studio album entailed his hit track, Jesus Walks. The track in itself is magnificent as the chorus falls to Ye, asking for God to show him a way as the devil is trying to break him down. West, while performing Jesus Walks, literally took Jesus on a twenty steps walk on stage. Ye invited a Jesus look-alike and even bowed down to him.

This wasn’t just a one-time phenomenon, the rapper followed through with it for most of his Jesus Walks performances. When asked about his reasoning for bringing the God of Christianity on stage, the rapper said that he has a “message” to give his fans, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter in 2013.

Ye said that a pastor explained to him one of the best things about Christianity is that we can picture it. “People play Jesus. You know what’s awesome about Christianity? We’re allowed to portray God.” Ye said. This, along with the fact that he wanted his fans to be able to say “Jesus is my homeboy” is the reason why Kanye West used to bring Jesus lookalikes at his performances.
