Kanye West officially ends his partnership with a famous clothing brand

Kanye West informed Gap via a letter on Thursday that he was ending the deal they shared for the Yeezy Gap apparel line. Previously announced in 2020, the partnership was followed by a drumroll of publicity and hype. Supposedly, this collaboration was bound to last for the next ten years. As per West, he ended the partnership with GAP, citing a breach of contract.

Initially, West’s lawyers sent a notice for breach of contract to the clothing brand on the 16th of August. GAP confirmed the end of its partnership with Kanye with a message for its employees.

The brand’s president, Mark Breitbard, wrote, “While we share a vision of bringing high-quality, trend-forward, utilitarian design to all people through unique Omni experiences with Yeezy Gap, how we work together to deliver this vision is not aligned.”

Breitbard concluded his letter with, “And we are deciding to wind down the partnership.”

Yeezy Gap apparel has been highly successful so far for both Kanye West and GAP. The clothing brand has witnessed massive in-store and online sales, while Kanye got access to a vast commercial market. But as per Ye’s lawyer Nicholas Gravante Jr., the brand left the singer with no choice except to discontinue their partnership.

Why did Kanye end his deal with GAP?

According to the notice sent to GAP, the Flashing Lights hitmaker accused the brand of jilting its contractual obligations. As per their agreement, GAP did not meet its commitment to open stores for the specific purpose of selling Yeezy products. Moreover, it also failed to sell products in its stores.
