Meeting an artist you admire is something that has left fans star-struck many a time. But working with them is something else entirely. Actress Becki Newton was able to live out this fantasy as she worked with Neve Campbell in Netflix’s latest courtroom drama, The Lincoln Lawyer. Newton described working with the 90s heartthrob as one of her “favorite days of filming“, which says a lot by itself.

Neve Campbell was the Scarlett Johansson of the 90s. The Canadian actress has worked in many thriller and horror films, earning her the title of “scream queen“. Alongside, she was popular for being extremely attractive. Although the latter is highly subjective, most of the population that was alive during the era collectively agree that she belonged to People’s Magazine’s list of the “50 Most Beautiful People”.

Hence, when Becki Newton first met the actress on the sets of the Netflix Original, she was awestruck by the professionalism she displayed. Newton said, “I’ve been a fan of Neve forever. I couldn’t believe I got to work with her.” Campbell also ensured she lived up to her name by making some suggestions that uplifted a scene greatly.

In a world where women are often pitted against each other or made to appear hostile, Campbell made it very clear that she wanted both her and Newton’s characters to be more than that. According to Newton, “Neve right away said to the director, ‘I don’t want this to be about two women bitching with each other. I want this to be about two women who are trying to help Mickey.'” She added that Cambell “wanted it to be more complex than that and smarter than that.”

We certainly are fans of Campbell’s suggestions. Not only did her decision make the characters of the Netflix series appear more complex, but also made the story seem more serious and grim. A catfight between these women would have undermined the actual issue of Mickey’s trial.
