It is without a doubt difficult to leave a project that you have worked on for years. Not because you were not good at it, but because it was so good that you had to give it a fitting conclusion before it starts to feel like a stretch. We have been watching Peaky Blinders for the last 6 seasons and 10 years, and we have witnessed nothing but the absolute brilliance of the entire team associated with the BBC period drama. Alas! The journey has been a pleasurable one, but it has to end. And if it is this difficult for us to deal with it, imagine how the people associated with it would feel?

Well, of course, it is heartbreaking. And who better to talk about it the Tommy Shelby aka Cillian Murphy himself? Ahead of the release of the last season of Peaky Blinders, Cillian sat down with The Guardian to have a conversation about his experiences of working for 10 years on the British Drama alongside so many big names. Here is what he had to say about it.

As someone who has been the center of everything, the show’s end indeed affects Cillian the most. “I do all the work before I arrive on set,” he says about the preparations he did for the show. “But that method thing doesn’t really make sense to me. It’s about a series of little decisions and processes, which hopefully add up to the performance you want.” The end of the BBC drama series marks the end of all the tiring processes as well. The gym sessions, the accent and language training, the 3000 “herbal” cigarettes per season, and much more.

However, it also marks the end of a beautiful era that has provided us with a plethora of alluring memories and prominent characters. “It feels like the end of something,” Murphy says. He also talked about how it feels a little strange to even talk about it. “I don’t have a grasp on it yet. Maybe when it’s done, I’ll have some perspective,” he adds. It is the end of 10 years of Cillian’s life as Tommy Shelby.
