Why Will Smith couldn’t get Mila to applaud

Right after The Fresh Prince assaulted Chris Rock, he received recognition for his acting in King Richard. Although almost everyone from the audience got up and gave the actor a standing ovation, some actors didn’t. Mila Kunis gives an astonishing reason for not supporting the ovation. She and her husband, Ashton Kutcher, stayed put because they didn’t want to set this kind of example for their children.

She explained further and said one day, their children would see the reactions of the parents to this unfortunate incident. Assaulting someone is an offensive act and to support that by applauding the next minute wouldn’t set the right example. “The idea of leading by example only makes sense when you actually have someone to lead,” said Mila.

It also shocked her to see the number of actors present there who stood up and applauded. She expressed her wonder and said, “Not standing up to me was a no-brainer, but what was shocking to me was how many people did stand up.” She further exclaimed and opened up about how as a society people live. Looking at the reaction like this to Smith’s win, she believed we live in a world where looking good is more important rather than standing up for the right.
