A former Love Is Blind competitor is suing Netflix, alleging that the production violated labor rules by restricting food and water and encouraging alcohol use. Jeremy Hartwell was part of the Season 2 of the dating program, which places contestants in separate pods and forces them to date without seeing each other.
Hartwell filed a complaint last week against Netflix, Kinetic Content, and casting agency Delirium TV. While talking about his lawsuit to People, Jeremy said that the companies “regularly refused timely food and water to the cast while on set, severely restricting the availability of hydration opportunities.”
Hartwell’s complaint also accuses producers of underpaying the participants, claiming that they qualified as employees rather than contractors under California state law since producers made judgments concerning the nature of the cast’s work.

The complaint seeks unpaid pay, cash compensation for missed breaks, and other monetary penalties for violations of company rules. According to the former participant, the event left him “sleep-deprived, socially isolated and mentally drained.”
In response to the allegation, Kinetic Connect told People that Mr Hartwell had only been a member of the Love is Blind cast for less than a week after failing to connect with another contestant.

According to the statement, “While we will not speculate as to his motives for filing the lawsuit, there is absolutely no merit to Mr. Hartwell’s allegations, and we will vigorously defend against his claims.”
