When Mikey Day, the host of Is it Cake on Netflix, is on The Today’s Show, it’s a given that the guests will be subjected to a cake guessing game! The fun reality show makes the judges guess whether the objects on the table are actually cakes or just really objects! The surprising and never before done concept immediately landed with the viewers. 

Laid on the table were five objects. With 30 seconds to guess which one of the objects is a cake, the guests start panicking. At one point in the game, Hoda Kotb impatiently asks Mikey to “put the knife through it” already! Patrick Schwarzenegger doesn’t know which is the cake but sure knows the shiny red telephone isn’t one. Hoda puts her bet on the elephant clock and ends up winning the first round. In the second round, all three won the game.

Setting aside all the fun and games, the guests also sat down for a quick chat. When Mikey is asked out how he ended up on the Netflix show, Is It Cake, he admits clueless, “I don’t know.” Patrick confessed that he’s a foodie and would love to be a judge on the show. As the conversation shifted to dads and boys, we are shown a snippet of Mikey’s son pranking his dad. During the peak pandemic time, they resorted to producing At Home shows. It is when Patrick’s revelation caused everyone to roll with laughter. “It was fun going to the sets and then he was governor, it wasn’t that fun.” Mikey took it to another level when he exclaimed in an exaggerated voice, “Can I watch you do Policy dad?”

Apart from hosting the Netflix reality show, Mikey frequently appears on SNL. He gave an update on the show, saying that the show’s currently on a hiatus. The most recent episode featured The Batman‘s star, Zoe Kravitz. Although being on SNL is a big deal, it’s not so for his son. “But for him it’s just kinda like a dad’s job,” Mikey says disappointed.
