A sneak peek into the Manga series

Fullmetal Alchemist is basically a Japanese Manga series. It is written and illustrated by Hiromu Arakawa. The illustrations are set in the early 20th century and showcase a fictional universe styled on the back of the European Industrial Revolution. 

It revolves around the fact that alchemy, a brand of natural philosophy, is the most reliable and advanced scientific technique. Owned by Square Enix, the comic has a total of 27 volumes and 108 chapters. The worldwide recognition of the Fullmetal Alchemist Manga series led to its adaptation in the form of two anime series and as many movies. 

The first television series was released in 2003. It was an instant hit among the fans as the series depicts brotherhood, friendship, love, humor, and humanity. It loosely follows the life of two brothers named Edward and Alphonse Elric. The Elric brothers deal with a lot of adventures and chaos while searching for the philosopher’s stone to heal their damaged bodies. 

How the series released in 2003 is different from the 2009 show?

The next anime series, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, hit the television screens on 2009. Notably, it was another adaptation of the Manga series. It managed to stand out due to its similarities with the Manga novel. The writers didn’t experiment much with the characters and decided to go with the vision of the comic author, Hiromu Arakawa.

Coming to the movies, the first Fullmetal Alchemist movie was released in 2017. Directed by Fumihiko Sori, the movie was another take on the Manga series. Its sequel, Fullmetal Alchemist: The Revenge of Scar has been released in 2022. The second movie highlights another rival of the Elric brothers, Scar. 

Can you stream Fullmetal Alchemist anime on Netflix?

After reading the gist of the Fullmetal Alchemist series and movies, you should be surprised if you are not excited to stream it. Owing to the popularity of the show, fans are often eager to know if it’s available on Netflix.

You can tune in to the streaming service to watch both the movies, Fullmetal Alchemist and Fullmetal Alchemist: The Revenge of Scar. However, both television series were removed from the platform this year. The 2003 series disappeared from the internet after its removal from Netflix. Meanwhile, you can tune in to Hulu to watch the 2009 show, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood.
