Inside Kanye West’s Once Glorious $2,000,000,000 Empire and How He Lost It to Drop Out of Forbes Elite List of Billionaires
Kanye West has dropped out of the Forbes billionaire list after enjoying the ranking for a while. The self-made billionaire certainly won credit and worked his way up in the entertainment industry to get where he is today. But staying a billionaire is apparently more of a challenge than becoming one. While the business was not a problem, it was his own opinions that led to the downfall of his empire.
The pandemic and financial crisis have certainly affected many of the previous billionaires on the Forbes list to go poorer. But while the reasons are maybe different, Ye’s situation was clearly a more self-made one. Here is how one partnership affected his billion-dollar empire to come crashing.

If it was not for his controversies, Kanye West would still be one of the richest rappers out there. After all, he managed to become the first non-sport entity to make a sports brand a success. His partnership with Adidas was first formed in November 2013. Thereafter, his merchandise, especially the Yeezy shoes, began selling like hotcakes. While the designs themselves were good, it was Ye’s attitude and influence over the fans that led to the massive sales.
Unfortunately, the entertainer had always enjoyed the privilege of saying what he wants. While he faced criticism for it through the years, it was his anti-Semitic comment that led to his downfall. “Death con 3 to Jewish people,” he tweeted after built-up anger over several people around him. Jewish personality Mark Zuckerberg banned him from social platforms while he felt threatened by his former celebrity coach, Harley Pasternak. However, instead of apologizing, Kanye West doubled down on his claims.
After turning a blind eye to his controversies for years, German-born company Adidas finally decided to end their partnership with the ‘Donda’ singer.

The aftermath of losing his billionaire status
Instead of a billionaire list, the singer ended up on a Forbes article this year on the list of people who lost the ninth zero from their net worth. As per Forbes, West is now said to have left with approximately $400 million after facing a loss of $1.6 billion.
The controversies have also resulted in his mass criticism, leading to lesser opportunities and a ban. It will be seen how he recovers himself to bring back the old glory.
