‘I wasn’t afraid anymore’- Selena Gomez Opened Up About Her Illustrious Split Up With Ex-Boyfriend Justin Bieber

Selena Gomez had a headline-making six-year-long on-and-off relationship with the Baby singer Justin Bieber. The entire world shipped the two so much that they wanted them to be the prince and princess of a happily ever after Disney-esque love story. It seems like the eternal force had some other plans for them. The two not only ended their relationship officially for once and all, but Gomez also had to gulp in the engagement of her recent ex-boyfriend to Hailey Bieber soon after their final breakup.

Notably, in her 2022 documentary about her psychological and physiological journey from 2016 to the present year, the 30-year-old pop singer opened up about her illustrious split from the Sorry singer. And although she barely mentioned him in My Mind & Me, she provided a lot indirectly, suggesting that the breakup was the hardest but the best thing ever happened to her.

Selena Gomez opens up about her breakup with Justin Bieber in the recently released documentary

“I felt haunted by a past relationship that no one wanted to let go of. Then I just moved past it, and I wasn’t afraid anymore,” Gomez says in the documentary, per Entertainment Tonight. The Heart Wants What It Wants singer further mentioned how the hardest period of her life turned out to be the best thing that could have happened to her.

Post her breakup, Gomez wanted to figure out her feelings and called up Justin Tranter and Julia Michaels. She ended up writing the fastest song, within 45 minutes, she has written in her career: Lose You to Love Me. With the song, she wanted to express how she learned to choose herself and life, hoping that people can find peace in that as well.

The documentary also sees her breaking down when John Janick asked her to collaborate with her ex-boyfriend for the 2016 Revival Tour. The singer and actress broke down wondering when she would be enough by herself and wouldn’t need to be associated with anyone else. Reportedly, the song was never released.

And despite everything that happened in the past, Gomez and Biebers seem to have no bad blood among them anymore as the internet saw Hailey Bieber and the Calm Down singer sharing a goofy moment at the Academy Museum Gala.
