“I think they’ll do…” – Richard Donner Once Predicted What Henry Cavill and Zack Snyder’s Duo Could Do With Superman in ‘Man of Steel’
The on-screen journey of Superman started in 1948 with Kirk Alyn. After him, many actors portrayed the man with the cape in various adaptations of the superhero. However, no one could touch the audience as deeply as Henry Cavill and Zack Snyder’s duo. When they were making Man of Steel, Richard Donner, who created Superman film in 1978 starring Christopher Reeve opened up about the iconic duo. He predicted Cavill’s future with the character way before James Gunn axed him.
When Superman: The Motion Picture Anthology was being launched in 2011, MTV had a chat with the man behind the evolution of Superman. Donner had high hopes for the film, the director, and the actor, too. He revealed that the British actor would not have it easy. However, he praised the acting skills of The Witcher star and the director, Zack Snyder. “I think they’ll do a sensational job.” the late filmmaker mentioned as he truly believed that their dedication to the product was honest.

While praising the duo, the American director said they believed in the film they were making. That is all you need, according to Richard Donner, as he said, a nice director and confidence in your project. He also wished them luck, and the rest is history. The audience instantly fell in love with Cavill’s portrayal of Superman.
Therefore, when James Gunn axed the actor; fans became extremely disappointed. The new DC boss has announced the new slate for their upcoming projects. But what about the 39-year-old actor? What is next for Cavill after his exit from the DCU?

He has joined hands with Amazon Studios to create a live-action adaptation of Warhammer 40,000. There are also chances of him reprising his role of Sherlock Holmes in the Enola Holmes films.
Moreover, after getting official approval for the sequel to The Man from U.N.C.L.E, the actor will appear in two more war films. Those films are Argylle and The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare.
