Fans always love a good dose of royalty and glorious outlooks of settings in which queens and kings used to live. Netflix’s period drama, Bridgerton, brought us a diverse picture of all those aristocrats and their personal lives involved in it. It gave viewers an idea of what couples of elite families go through in their lives. Ultimately, these fictional characters are reflections of real-life people as creators take inspiration from true events. Perhaps that is why Bridgerton actress Adjoa Andoh could see the similarities between Simon Basset and Daphne Bridgerton, the show’s season 1 couple, and the Sussex couple, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight last year, Adjoa Andoh, who portrays the acerbic character Lady Danbury in the period drama, opened up about the future of the Hastings couple. Before the release of Bridgerton season 2, she gave hints about the new life of Daphne and Simon. She stated that now the couple is married and has a baby, so they will go through the phase of being young parents.

During the conversation, she drew a parallel between the real-life royal couple and Bridgerton characters. She remarked that Daphne and Simon would be similar to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry when they welcomed their firstborn, Archie in 2019.

“I mean Harry and Meghan, what’s it like when you have a new baby? How does it affect you when [you are] a young couple with a new baby?” explained Andoh.

She added the couple would navigate through a new path of life with more social interactions and responsibilities. With Regé-Jean Page’s exit from the show, fans unfortunately couldn’t see the Hastings couple in the depths of their parenthood in season 2. Instead, we did see Daphne having embraced motherhood much in the way Markle did.

Currently, the Sussex couple is going through a dark phase after the death of Queen Elizabeth II. Having excluded from the royal portrait and being downgraded to the end of the Royal family on the official website, the couple is receiving much flak for their projects.
