Once it became clear through the Welcome to Wrexham docuseries that Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have acquired the Welsh club to bring about some real change and not just to make bucks, netizens knew that things were about to get better. Wrexham FC was once a club if slated for a match against any other team would definitely get the crowd excited owing to their consistently great performances. However, the grandeur was lost somewhere along the way. That is until now. With a new entry and back-to-back winning matches, it seems like Wrexham’s golden days are back. And who would be more excited than co-owners, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney?

This football season has been no short of a thriller for the Welsh football club. From an interval injury that made everyone furrow their eyebrows to a Ben Foster cameo that saved the day. But Reynolds names the Wrexham FC women’s team as the highlight in his heartfelt note, celebrating the past two monumental days of the club.

Wrexham FC played a match against York City attaining a clean slate win thanks to the amazing efforts of every player but most importantly, Ben Foster, who made his Wrexham comeback with the match. However, to watch their beloved women’s team hoist the trophy to a record-breaking 20,000 spectators at the Racecourse ground, as predicted Ryan Reynolds showed up. The surprise was, however, Reynolds bringing his kids, including the newborn, and Blake Lively along with him.

Following their win, the actor celebrated the women’s team and wrote, “These women played their guts out and Rob McElhenney and I couldn’t be prouder or more choked up.”

Within two days, the club has seen its women’s team hoist the trophy for winning the Adran North Title. Meanwhile, the men’s team continued its spectacular performance and with Ben Foster added into the equation, further cemented its position as a likely winner of the league title.

What is next for the Wrexham FC women’s team?

The women’s team is bearing the fruits of its hard work since the beginning of the year. The club owners, Reynolds and McElhenney, applied for a Tier 1 license in the month of February. And as March comes to an end, the women’s team was hailed as the Genero North Adron champions. This is a huge win not only for the players but also for Ryan Renolds and Rob McElhenney as this is the first promotion the team has acquired since they took over.
