Neil Gaiman talks about including Batman and Justice League in The Sandman
Neil Gaiman sat down with Rolling Stones to talk about the future of The Sandman after the series has enamored the audience with its striking interpretation of the DC comics. During the conversation, he was asked about his depiction of Constantine and does he regret doing so.
Remembering one of the incidents, he replied that during the fifth issue of the comics, he was writing about Dr. Destiny, who was going to meet the famous Joker character after he escapes from the asylum. However, he received a call to change the scene since Joker is believed dead.

Therefore, the author said that he does not like bringing a new twist to the continuity of events.
“I just went, “I can’t be bothered.” I really can’t be bothered to have to change things and rewrite them because somebody else has just dropped the Joker into a river.”
Similarly, Gaiman did not want to overwhelm the viewers by introducing characters into the show. He feels that would make things chaotic and fans would struggle to understand the concept.
