In a few hours, we will get to see the last episodes of Money Heist, and Netflix is already preparing an extra surprise for us. We knew that there will be new Money Heist spinoff series, but we had no confirmed news except the Korean version of the show. Finally, the streaming giant has announced a spinoff series for the year 2023.

La Casa de Papel is undoubtedly one of the biggest shows on Netflix, and everyone is sad about the show meeting its end. This Netflix Original is the most-watched non-English show on the platform. Hence, it is no surprise that the creators have capitalized on its popularity. While there were many ideas in store for a spinoff series, we will get a show centered on Berlin.

Money Heist spinoff: Berlin 2023

On Twitter, Netflix announced the new spinoff series. It is no miracle that the very first show we are getting will be about Berlin, as he is undoubtedly one of the most loved characters from the Spanish Heist drama. The very fact that they continued to show Berlin in flashbacks when he died in season 2, shows the importance and love the character has among the audiences.

Netflix also announced that Squid Game actor Park Hae-soo will play the role of Berlin in the Korean version of the show. So we can say that today’s day has been all about Berlin so far.

Why does Berlin 2023 make sense?

While the character has always been a misogynist, sexual predator, and sociopath, he has also been a charming presence on the screen. The audience fell for him for his leadership qualities and his dedication to the plan. Pedro Alonso’s character even sacrificed his own life in order to get the group to safety.

We have been seeing a lot of Berlin in the past few seasons of the show, through flashbacks. We got to know about his love, Tatiana, his son, Rafael, and also the fact that he originally planned the Bank of Spain heist. These things make the viewers yearn for more- we all want to know how did this weird yet beautiful man operated.
