How did Jason Bateman and Amanda meet?

For those who do not know, apart from being a fabulous actress and Jason Bateman’s wife, Amanda is the daughter of the famous singer Paul Anka. Both of them married each other in 2001 and have had a lasting marriage for over two decades. Recently, he revealed his love story with Amanda.

The story goes back to when Bateman worked as a child actor. After initially appearing in the Silver Spoons, the 53-year-old star appeared in The Hogan Family. During that time, he went to an L.A. Kings game where he met Amanda for the first time in 1988. But being a celebrity kid herself, Anka was not blown away when she met the child celebrity Bateman.

Where most people might think that it was Amanda who would have proposed the successful star, it was Bateman who made the first move. Anka initially was not interested at all and, most of all, she disliked the habit of Jason Bateman partying all the time. And hence, they did not start dating until 10 years after their first meeting.

They finally dated each other when Amanda gave him an ultimatum to get sober and he was so into her, he successfully did that. On the other hand, Bateman’s reason for getting married to Amanda was her being his closest friend. According to The Things, Bateman said, “I thought, if I only wanted to get married once, I should probably marry a friend.”
