Usually, controversies die down with time. But it does not seem to be true for Will Smith, as his actions at the Oscars will still take time for people to forget. A year later and the Oscars fiasco is still the most talked about event. People have strong opinions about the actor. Some detest him for his actions, whereas some have come in support of the actor.
Even though the world turned on him, Smith always knew he could trust his family. Although his family refrained from making any comments in the past, recently his mother and sister shared their feelings about that incident.

Carolyn Smith lends her full support to her son Will Smith; insists he is a good man
Carolyn Smith, the mother of Will Smith, was stunned sitting at her Philadelphia home on the night of the Oscars. She was anticipating the moment her son would receive the highest award for his work in the industry, but the altercation between Will and Chris Rock left her bewildered.
“He is a very even people person. That’s the first time I’ve ever seen him go off. First time in his lifetime…I’ve never seen him do that,” she confessed to 6abc. She insisted that her son has worked hard to achieve all that he has now.

Will’s sister Ellen Smith reiterated her mother. Talking about her famous brother Ellen revealed the heartfelt conversations she had with her brother. She was aware of the trials and tribulations I Am Legend star had to go through to make it to the top. The family was proud of his win and thought he deserved it all. Everyone has a struggle story, and so did the 54-year-old, but he persevered and it paid off.
The Hollywood bigwig had slapped Chris Rock on the night of the Oscars because he had made a joke about Jada Pinkett’s alopecia. His mean joke led to an altercation between the two on live TV. Although the Men in Black actor has apologized and reached out to Rock, the latter is keeping him at bay.
