Subjects like LGBTQ and homosexuality are the taboo subjects in India. Bollywood (and other film industries in the country) often use these topics for comedic relief. However, lately that has changed. Films like Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan and Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui have charmed their way through the audience while sensitively and sensibly addressing the concepts. 2022 release Badhaai Do is another film to this kitty of socially relevant films.

Badhaai Do is a spiritual sequel of 2018’s Badhaai Ho, taking the legacy of an unconventional story forward. The Hindi comedy-drama film by Harshavardhan Kulkarni has Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar in lead roles. The film follows a couple in a lavender marriage to appease their parents.
