Henry Cavill in THIS Man of Steel Scene Can Pass a Horror Movie Audition
That Henry Cavill is an actor who is dedicated to his craft became clear when he picked the red cloak in 2013 as Superman with the Man of Steel. The British actor strengthened the role not only with his physical strength but also made Clark Kent human through his performance. Apart from Cavill’s unique performance, it was Zack Snyder’s direction that set the movie apart from the rest. While the two carved a niche in the superhero action genre, the movie and Cavill’s performance are very much capable of setting the horror genre on fire.
What was earlier deemed too dark to decipher and received complaints from the audience about having to squint their eyes is now the very movie that is being kept on a pedestal. As Snyder and Cavill, in a twist of fate, are being applauded for their work, fans have fetched out another aspect in which the movie excels.

In 2013, Cavill’s approach towards playing the symbol of strength, justice, and hope, although managed to win the audience’s heart, did not create the impact that it needed to. It was only when The Witcher actor announced his resignation from the Superman role that the audiences truly recognized what a gem he was as Superman. More specifically, the scene when Zod is introduced to humanity.
Snyder’s dark frames combined with the constant flickering of lights as people watch in horror when the screen reads “You are not alone” sends a shrivel down the spine. If taken out of context, it appears to be a scene cut out for the horror genre.
The scene where Zod is introduced consists of Henry Cavill studying his surroundings with scrutiny akin to horror movie characters at the edge of a jump scare. Man of Steel checks another box in the horror movie requirements with the addition of eerie music. Now that both Cavill and Snyder are off DC’s slate, as far as we know, it is the perfect timing for Henry Cavill to right the wrongs made in the horror genre by him by collaborating with Zack Snyder in the genre.

Has the Superman actor ever worked in a horror movie?
Henry Cavill did not have much time to experiment in different genres before DC pulled him to take on the role of Superman. While the actor put forth his best ‘a character in a horror movie’ character when Zod was introduced in Man of Steel, fans crave for more of the actor in the genre. And Cavill has only Hellraiser: Hellworld to offer to them. The 2005 flick is the only traditional horror movie that has Cavill at the helm of affairs.

A more notable contribution would be The Witcher, where the actor quite literally slays monsters. However, that the actor is more often than not cast in roles that are physically demanding is evident. Fans would love to see an emotionally and mentally challenging performance from Cavill and what better way than a horror movie than to do it?
