“He was just…”- ‘Emancipation’s Cannon Guy, Bob Gillmor Opens Up About How Exactly It Was to Work With Will Smith
When Will Smith lost his temper at the Oscars and slapped Chris Rock, people thought his career was over. However, the actor came back with a big project in Emancipation. The film talks about the time when slavery was a real deal and how people suffered. It is a true story of a man who escaped from prison. While the 54-year-old played the lead in the film, a crew member shared how it really felt working with Smith.
Emancipation has a classic theme when there were wars going on. It also depicts the story of slaves and their survival. Therefore, the film had to represent the actual cruel weapons that were used during the time. For Emancipation, Bob Gilmore created three 20-pound Parrott cannons, along with 3 10-inch Columbian cannons. The man, as reported by Fremont News Messenger, talks about how he felt working with Will Smith.

Bob Gilmore enjoyed working in the 2022 historical drama with the Aladdin actor. Revealing his feelings about the American actor, Gilmor said Smith was the coolest. He praised the actor and said he was a hoot. Gilmore shared his observation about Smith and said he was a down-to-earth person. Moreover, he also added he was one of the nicest guys he had ever met. “He was just down-to-earth, one of the nicest guys you’d ever meet,” said the cannon guy.
Gilmore has worked with many A-listed actors in major films. Yet, he could not stop gushing over the Emancipation actor.
