When a movie/series is an adaptation of a book, it already has an audience from the books. So, if the showrunners stick to the source material the chances of the series doing well are high. And the most recent example of this is Stay Close by Harlan Coben on Netflix.

Fans might have to wait before they can binge Stay Close season 2, but there are other projects from the writer on Netflix. The drama miniseries has got the fans waiting for upcoming content from the writer. So, let us look at Harlan Coben, the writer, his deal with Netflix, and what can fans expect?

Who is Harlan Coben?

Harlan Coben is an American author known for writing mystery or thriller novels. The writer was born in Newark, New Jersey on January 4, 1962. Thus, the protagonist in a couple of Harlan’s books is from in and around New York and New Jersey. Harlan completed his graduation from Livingston High School, as he lived in Livingston.

Before Harlan pursued his interest in writing books, he worked in the travel industry. Harlan’s first novel, “Play Dead,” a psychological thriller, was published at 26. The author has won many awards, including Anthony Awards, Shamus Award, and Edgar Award.

The writer’s deal with Netflix

Netflix will adapt 14 of Coben’s books into movies and series, and the writer will oversee the projects. With the five-year multi-million deal signed in 2018, Harlan’s stories will reach an international audience. “Netflix teaming up with me, it was a great synergy. I really love working with them, that’s unusual for a network or a streamer,” Harlan expressed his happiness.

Fans might have to wait a little longer to enjoy Harlan’s new works. The writer has made six shows with Netflix, and the seventh one seems to be in its final stages. Although Netflix hasn’t made any official announcements regarding the new series, Harlan hinted at the release date as he said:

“This will be the sixth show that I’ve made with [Netflix], and a seventh is coming sometime next year, we’ve just finished filming in Poland.”
