Henry Cavill plays every role he takes on down to the last cell. The actor over the years has gained recognition for always understanding his assignments when it comes down to the role at hand. Be it his unique lonesome take on Superman or the vulnerability with which he portrayed the otherwise stone-cold Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher. Despite being in the industry for years and playing a gazillion roles, Cavill’s performance as the Geralt proved to be very pivotal in his career.

One, is because the Netflix series is an adaptation of the famous and well written by Andrzej Sapkowski. And two because before it became a Netflix series, The Witcher world was already a popular video game with a passionate fanbase. Despite the initial reluctance towards giving the series a chance, many went into it for the sake of Henry Cavill and his understanding of the source material. And they stuck to the series until it was announced that Cavill was retiring from the series. This all proves that Cavill as the Geralt of Rivia was phenomenal. However, his armor, not so much.

Henry Cavill aces Geralt of Rivia but not his armor

As great as the magnitude of praise is for the Man of Steel actor’s portrayal of the Geralt the disapproval for his armor is just as high. Given how the Geralt is always on a roll, the armor is a very important part of the character.

The second season of The Witcher saw a few changes to Geralt’s armor which Cavill himself helped in designing next to the show’s costume designer Lucinda Wright.

According to Cavill, the change was not just about the appearance of the armor but was symbolic of the yellow-eyed Geralt’s character development. The fact that he was finally able to stay in a place long enough to alter an armor.

While a part of the audience nodded at the attempt, the rest was left unfazed. And with the coming of Season 3 of The Witcher and unfortunately the last time that we will see Cavill in Geralt’s armor, a change is the need of the hour. Furthermore, some even think that the armor in the series is the worst designed for any fantasy series. While The Witcher actor’s performance may have gotten a 10, his armor stays back on the negative scale.
