Lauren Schmidt Hissrich’s The Witcher has explored the likes of adaptation from Andrzej Sapowski’s book series of the same name. The show brainstormed the mythical apprentices to filter the fantasy drama. Fidgeting between the lines of good and evil, Hissrich’s project had kick-started with a star-studded cast. However, after Henry Cavill hung up the sword of Geralt, the anticipation surrounding the series witnessed a footfall. But keeping in mind the third season’s success, it was majorly assumed that the one awaiting to befit the role of savior could be Ciri, played by Freya Allan.

Moving up the ladder, there are not many characters who are destined for the centrality that Ciri deserves. Hence, given her determined loyalty to the franchise, here are a few reasons why she could become the hero of the series.

Freya Allan is one of the founding actors to retain her role throughout the three seasons

As the backbone of The Witcher, Freya Allan played the role of the Cintra-born princess. Governed by the Law of Surprise, the relationship between Geralt and Ciri had become inseparable, even without blood ties. Having been caught in the challenge of safeguarding Ciri, Season 2 completely focused on the pair’s journey. While season one took the saddle of building the relationship between Geralt and Ciri, it also etched the prominence of Ciri in the seasons to come.

Initially, Geralt drifted from the Law of Surprise, making no claims. However, since the law of destiny is overpowered by the law of surprise, Ciri has to be owned by Geralt, following the notion that Cintra would not be able to overcome the attacks of Nilfgaard.

Hence, there needs no second-guessing that Ciri’s portrayal by Freya Allan will leave a lasting impression, not only owing to her centrality but also because she was the groundbreaker of the series.

Freya Allan’s intense journey to portray Ciri in The Witcher

Although Allan had initially auditioned for the role of Marilka, there is no doubt that the makers put her in the role that she truly deserves. After the conclusion of season 1, Allan was dissatisfied with the way she portrayed the character. Hence, to get into the skin of Cirilla, she attempted to perfect the action sequences. Season 2 of The Witcher focused more on Ciri’s physical transformation aligned with her compelling acting.

However, she also once opened up about the struggles of representing the mortal mage in an interview with Collider. The actress recalled having bleached eyebrows that could have led her to lose her natural brows. Hence, in the following seasons, she retained normalcy, at least concerning this feature. Furthermore, Anya Chalotra also showered praises for doing the homework Allan does before accelerating the character.

Ciri’s centrality to The Witcher

The Witcher had gained popularity not just owing to its impeccable storytelling but also for the star cast, Henry Cavill. In the first two seasons, Ciri and Geralt massively complemented each other. Being the central character that stretches the plot, it was assumed that the former Geralt’s real-world stardom could outshine Ciri’s. Hence, with the makers not retaining their original choice of Geralt, the possibility of Ciri’s continued prominence, played by Allan, grabbed more attention.

Being the first-born daughter of Princess Pavetta and Lord Duny, her essentiality had begun to shape when she was bestowed to Geralt. As the Witcher, his only vision was to mutilate monsters around the Continent. However, with Ciri, Geralt’s life found a purpose- to secure her. Therefore, if Ciri is destined to change Geralt’s course of action, it is hard to envision why she would not be the principal catalyst of the show being on the run.

Freya Allan’s performance as Ciri in The Witcher Season 3

Freya Allan’s portrayal of Ciri has been a tale of endless transformation. Be it on her own accord or in alliance with the storyline. The buzz around the third season had been quite diabolical owing to Geralt’s drift. However, Cirilla’s metamorphosis catalyzed the ascent from the ashes. Season 3 introduced The Rats and Ciri’s conjunction with them after the end of The Time of Contempt. This was the complete turning point of Ciri’s journey in the series. Following the transition, Ciri assumed the name Falka.

Aligning the vulnerable history of Ciri’s onset and Falka’s inauguration, this season has been celebrated as the most courteously close to the origin. Falka’s rebellious sorcery has dictated the bindings of the storyline. Being the firstborn to King Vridank of Redania and Beatrix of Kovir, her bloodlust and savagery complement her combat skills. Previously Cirilla’s vision had incorporated the idea of Falka’s descendents dominating the world.

However, the end of season three did not bear transparency to the prophecies that were at work. Ciri’s assumption as Falka also altered the different possibilities of either of their destinies. Therefore, it is hard to tell the future of the characters unless the next installment issues are on-boarding.
