Following Jenna Ortega’s ‘Scream VI’ Success, Netflix Brings the MTV Horror Series ‘Scream’ on for Streaming

After her hit comedy-horror show Wednesday, Jenna Ortega is on her way to establishing herself as the horror queen of Hollywood. She immediately did the sixth film in the hit horror franchise Scream after that, which saw unexpected success; this might be something the actress can make good fortune in. And since Netflix is a good observer of the trend, the streaming giant seems to work in the same genre.

Netflix has recently launched the MTV and VH1 hit horror production series Scream, following the success of the Ortega starrer. The show was first released in the year 2015 and has over three seasons. Its final season concluded in July 2019, and now Netflix has brought it. The official Twitter account of Netflix recently posted a clip of Keke Palmer from the show, asking fans, “Who else wants to see Keke Palmer get another stab at Ghostface?”

The show was a TV adaptation of the famous film franchise the Wednesday star has become a part of. When it initially came out in 2015, it became quite a huge hit. The show follows the famous character Ghostface targeting a group of teenagers. A teenage girl begins to doubt her morality as the serial murderer targets her friends.

One of the major reasons behind Netflix’s interest in the Scream series is the recent success of the You star’s film saw. Scream 6 cost $24 million to produce, yet it made almost $140 million at the box office. However, it is not the first time the film of this franchise has done wonders.

The first part of the Scream film franchise came out in the year 1996 and turned out to be a huge hit and milestone in the horror genre. The initial four parts of the film were directed by Wes Craven, but sadly, he passed away in 2015. After that, Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett took the project into their hands and made a successful comeback in 2022 with the fifth part of the franchise.

The sixth part of the film came out on March 10 this year and is still rocking the box office. Let’s see if Netflix eventually brings the parts of the film franchise to the fans.
