In the year of our lord 2023, we have fortunately established, at least on the surface, that every faction that identifies with the LGBTQ+ spectrum is one that prides itself. And while we still have a long way to go, the month of June is all about celebrating one’s Pride as the legacy of the Stonewall Inn Riots. Cinema, with its gift of storytelling, was among the first to rise up to the occasion and thus one of its most popular hubs, Netflix, has a plethora of movies to celebrate the beauty of Pride month.

The OTT Mogul, with numerous coming-of-age series, has helped numerous people struggling to come to terms with their identity to express themselves. However, the true gold lies in the versatile array of movies that the streamer presents. After a day of marching in Pride, these movies, celebrating the joy of pride, are just what you need.

1. The Half of It

In their pursuit of bringing to the surface versatile projects that not only represent the LGBTQ+ community but also remain racially sound, the OTT mogul often ends up investing millions in lackluster projects. That is until it decided to put its money where its mouth is and invested in Alice Wu’s second more up-to-date tale of a lesbian Chinese girl not yet living in her own world. The first was the cult classic 2004 movie Saving Face, which has remained a Pride Month staple for many.

Netflix’s The Half of It, however, follows a protagonist who comes face to face with a lot more than her identity when she sets up a boy with her own crush.
