Fans of Golden Globe Winner Idris Elba Rejoice as This Hit Netflix Flick of His Announces a Sequel
Deemed the ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ by People magazine, the English actor known for being a ladies’ favorite is none other than Idris Elba. Besides being tall, dark, and handsome, the Beast actor’s most alluring feature is his acting. Through his exquisite portrayal of a drug dealer in HBO’s The Wire, the 50-year-old garnered a huge fan following. One of his most stellar performances in Luther: The Fallen Sun even won him a Golden Globe. In it, he plays the protagonist trying to stop a ruthless killer. But a flick in which he plays the antagonist is the one that earned him a cult following.
As one of his most prominent roles of the outlaw Rufus Buck, Elba wowed audiences in The Harder They Fall. For the director of the film, Jeymes Samuel, it marked his debut in the feature film category. Yet he snatched up a BAFTA Award for the same in the Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer category. Besides being from England like the Luther actor, Samuel is also a music producer like Elba, who is a DJ himself. On his X (formerly known as Twitter) account, which is under his stage name The Bullitts, Samuel just announced that The Harder They Fall is getting a sequel!

The sequel will mark an important feat for Elba, who recently made some controversial comments about English actors. The Western movie was based on a real-life group of Native Americans and African Americans who committed various infamous felonies, including assassinating a US Deputy Marshall. But unlike the dire series of events the movie portrays, The Harder They Fall received a Hollywood Critics Association Award for being the Best Action Flick of 2022.
Considering the amount of recognition and accolades the movie received, it has built a huge fan base since its release in 2021. And one can only imagine their excitement as two years after its release, the rumors of it getting a sequel have finally been officially confirmed.
The fans, thus, have stormed X with compliments and their excitement for the sequel.
Idris Elba fans cannot wait to see his character’s comeback
When a fan tweeted about wishing for a sequel to the first movie, nobody could have imagined that the director himself would respond. Samuel sent the fans into a frenzy with his simple two-word response “there is..” Encouraging the iconic director, one user commented, “Let’s go James.” And those that were dismayed by Idris Elba giving up on playing James Bond could not help but share their excitement for the Netflix flick, bringing him back as Buck.
Some fans just wanted the director how “ready” they are for the sequel to finally drop.
One fan let the director know about how many times they have rewatched The Harder They Fall. Meanwhile, another was eager to catch the sequel.
