When Henry Cavill got into the Witcher armor, many were skeptical of the actor. They mostly associated him with big screen roles such as that of Superman and, for a crucial character of the Witcher, one needs to understand the crux of the source material. And Cavill did just that and so much more. His The Witcher exit came around the same time as his DC retirement and while the sentiment was mainly in favor of Cavill and how he deserved better, only a few recognized what would become of the series that proved to be a ringer for Netflix and an example for video game adaptations.

The Witcher is mostly synonymous with Henry Cavill, his vast knowledge about the world, and his stellar performance as the Geralt. Since his exit, the debate has ranged from the credibility of the writer, his supposed “annoying behavior” and more. However, a simple Twitter poll finally put it to the test.

What is The Witcher sans Henry Cavill?

In October 2022, it was announced that Henry Cavill was exiting the show. This resulted in a frenzy among fans. The actor will be a part of The Witcher Season 3 set to air this summer and will then be replaced by Liam Hemsworth. Now, this announcement, under any other circumstance, would have raked in cheers. But not in the case of The Witcher. A Twitter poll by Giant Freaking Robot asked fans a simple question, “Will you keep watching The Witcher without Henry Cavill in it?” and a vast majority chose pressed on ‘No’. The results indicated that 46.2% will not be watching the show if it means no Henry Cavill. And only a mere 16.3% said ‘Yes’ while others denied any interest in it.

Much of The Witcher‘s popularity was riding on the back of Henry Cavill’s relevance and his passion for the material. It was reported that the actor left owing to the storyline straying away from the original source. For Henry Cavill, who more than an actor was a fan of The Witcher, it was not something he could stand by.

How many more seasons will The Witcher have?

Following the exit of Henry Cavill, the audiences have expressed a strong distaste for the show. However, Cavill’s exit is not the only thing that has left a bad taste in fans’ mouths. The show is evidently straying away from its original source and given the passionate fanbase of The Witcher video game, this has not sailed well with fans. But to everyone’s surprise, not only does The Witcher have a Season 4 without Henry Cavill, but it reportedly also has a Season 5.
