Emmy Raver Lampman (Allison Hargreeves) Talks About Her “Malicious” Turn in ‘The Umbrella Academy’ Season 3
There was a lot of debate regarding the villain of The Umbrella Academy season 3. Since it was teased that Sir Reginald is returning, everyone expected him to be the big bad. But as it turns out, it was the sweet pacifier, Allison Hargreeves that would betray her siblings. Allison was the one in the Umbrellas that would make sure that the whole group would stay together no matter what befalls them. Hence it was bewildering for viewers when she went all psychotic. In a recent interview with Netflix Geekend after the show, Allison actor Emmy Raver Lampman talked about her change in character.

At the end of season 2 when the siblings’ time travels back to 2019, Allison had to ditch her husband to rejoin her daughter, Claire. But The Umbrella Academy season 3 revealed that the siblings landed in an alternate timeline where Raymond had died and Claire didn’t exist. The trauma and the loss were too great for Allison. She struck a deal with her father to get back Ray and Claire without knowing it would result in Luther’s death. Even Emmy didn’t see that death coming. It hadn’t “marinated” yet.

But she explained, “I think at the moment when they make that deal, I think it’s really malicious on her part and also very selfish. But then I think, from that moment on, she starts to see the repercussions of that. And I think at that point she’s so done with her family, and she’s so done with Viktor, and she’s so done with all of them.”

Emmy on delving into Allison’s fractured mental state
The actress admitted to referencing the source material and going back to the events of season 2 to portray Allison’s grief in the latest season. She even kept pictures of her, Claire, and Raymond as a daily reminder on the set of what she had lost.
