Elizabeth Mitchell Tells How Netflix’s Gay Romance ‘First Kill’ Became “A big happy circle” for Her
First Kill is the latest vampire show on the block. Fans are already enjoying the low-stakes vampire drama. It’s essentially a Romeo and Juliet story with a paranormal twist. Based on Victoria V.E Schwab’s short story, it stars Sarah Catherine as vampire Juliette Fairmont and Imani Lewis as vampire hunter Calliope Burns. They fall in love despite their families prepping them to kill one another. Also in the mix is veteran actress Elizabeth Michell. Playing Juliette’s mom, Elizabeth has previously appeared on Lost, ER, The Expanse, and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit previously.
Elizabeth Mitchell was super excited to play a vampire
Other than showrunner Felicia D. Henderson no one had tapped her to play a vampire before. Elizabeth Mitchell readily agreed to play the role because she wanted to play one for a long time. Moreover, she’s a V.E Shwab fan, having read her The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue. Plus she didn’t want to let go of the opportunity to work with Felicia and the superb cast.

The actress on playing Margot and preparing for the role
The actress explained that in order to play Margot she had to understand her world. As a predator, Margot views the world differently. But there’s one thing that Margot and Elizabeth Mitchell shared: their loyalty to their family. Both of them are extremely protective of their family. As a mom and an elder sister in real life, she could bring that nuance to her character on-screen.
“I am someone who likes to keep my people safe, so that particular instinct comes pretty naturally for me,” the actress said.
