The famous fiction author of The Sandman Neil Gaiman was thrilled to see his imagination come to life. It was a challenging task that took several years to make its arrival on a big platform. Well, Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment finally created it which actually turned out to be a triumph. Fans of the original comics were worried that it might go all wrong. But dreams never die and the dedication of the people involved in it paid off.

And making things better has always been the author’s motive no matter what happens later. Like when Marvel Boss, Kevin Feige rejected Gaiman and Guillermo Del Toro after they put in a suggestion. Why did the Marvel president decline their pitch? Neil Gaiman and Guillermo Del Toro wanted to experiment with Marvel’s Doctor Strange 

In a live session with the Happy, Sad, Confused podcast, Neil Gaiman reflected on his previous conversations with Marvel. He remembered when he and the Oscar-winning Director Guillermo Del Toro sat down and talked with Kevin Feige about their ideas on Doctor Strange. He revealed how they both were turned down by Kevin back in 2007. According to The Direct, Gaiman said:

“And basically, they said ‘We just want to concentrate on the core characters right now. Doctor Strange is way up the line, we don’t want to go there.” Gaiman added that he expressed his wish to Feige was that both Guillermo and he could do this project together. Unfortunately, he was denied years before when Doctor Strange wasn’t even a movie.

Moreover, The Direct asked him about the main idea they had in mind for the movie. In his answer, Neil replied that he wanted to present the story in the 1900s. “The one thing that we really wanted to do was have his adventures, have him become an alcoholic and a disbarred physician, all that sort of stuff, happen in the 1920s.”
