The turmoil in the DCEU, or now DCU, is best mirrored in the case of Superman’s character. One month into being praised for bringing back Henry Cavill in his Superman costume, the duo of James Gunn and Peter Safran have had a change of plan so big that The Witcher alum has exited the DC universe for good. However, straying from Zack Snyder’s dark frames, Gunn and Safran have promised a brighter future for Superman.

And word has it that Gunn’s first Superman project will follow a young Clark Kent taking his first steps into Metropolis. Keeping in mind that for James Gunn ‘young is the new bright’, here are all the actors that fans think will play the symbol of truth, justice, and hope brilliantly after Henry Cavill.

Who can play Superman next?

An actor who could bring more prize, popularity, and passion to the character of Superman is undoubtedly Michael B. Jordan. The actor is already set to play Superman in Ta Nehisi Coates’ HBO series revolving around the actor. Much like Henry Cavill, Michael B. Jordan’s Superman has been dangling by a thread for a long time now. Given how there has been no news on the HBO series starring Michael B. Jordan as Superman, fans want to see him take the role after Cavill in the DCU.

The Oscar-winning actor not only has a vast acting range that is required for Superman’s role but is also built for it. Seeing a black actor take on this massive role would definitely earn James Gunn tons of cookie points for taking his diversity lessons well.

Jordan is well acquainted with the comic book world, given how he has been a part of Fantastic Four and Black Panther. So, if ‘young’ is the requirement, Michael B. Jordan is the personification.

A young actor who has caught the attention of the masses for his brilliant acting abilities is Rohan Cambell, who plays Corey Cunningham in Halloween Ends. One glance at him and it becomes pretty clear why fans think he can play Superman.

Brown hair, blue eyes, and the youthful age of 25 make the actor a perfect casting for a Clark Kent. Although his role in Halloween Ends truly horrified us, it just proves how amazing he is as an actor.

In the world of OTT where we are greeted with several series and movies, one as good as the other, Dexter has managed to leave a permanent mark. Much like Jack Alcott, who plays the younger version of the main character, Harrison Morgan, in the series. How he managed to uphold the wall of mystery and darkness around him, despite his innocent features, is truly commendable.

The actor is only 23 years old which is as young as it gets. Although at first look, one would not see him being cast as Superman, given his slim stature. But if we check the trends, MCU tested it with Tom Holland, and he brought in millions for the studio.

An actor that comic fans may not be very familiar with is Jacob Elordi. However, the actor is at his peak when it comes to mainstream shows and movies, having done Euphoria and Kissing Booth. Elordi is 25 years old and has been applauded for his choice of roles and acting talent.

Although he does not have Superman’s ocean blue eyes, with his dark brown hair and 6 feet height, Jacob Elordi can pass the fitness check for Superman with flying colors.

Apart from Michael B. Jordan on this list, an actor who is the closest to reach for James Gunn is Barry Keoghan. The actor has already proven his ability to adapt to the comic world with his appearance as Joker in Batman. The actor with his slim build can embody a young Clark Kent effortlessly.

Keoghan is a brilliant performer and would do great justice to the character of Superman and everything he stands for. Additionally, Barry Keoghan has famously gone on to say that he manifested his role in the hit The Banshees of Inisherin by putting the director as his wallpaper. And if anyone spies James Gunn as his new wallpaper, you know what to expect.
