The former American actress faced a huge outrage on social media owing to her recent podcast episodes where she voiced some unpopular opinions about our society. Reports have it that the Duchess of Sussex once took her stance for oppressed women to a whole different level. She realized that simply voicing her opinions and campaigning about the same was not going to work. Hence, the former American actress once took it to the US parliament to accredit her words. 

Meghan Markle took to the US Congress to implement a new bill

Markle had raised her voice for the implementation of paid leave for women. As a working woman and a young parent in 2021, she saw a great opportunity for doing so. Another reason was that the senators were passing some specific bills in the parliament at that time. 

Meghan Markle, on the behalf of millions of Americans, wrote in her letter, “comprehensive paid leave should not be a place to compromise or negotiate.” The former actress further affirmed that, although she was no great politician, she was at least a parent, like many American parents in the nation. The Duchess addressed it to the then-house speaker, Nancy Pelosi. Throwing light on how difficult it is for young parents, precisely young mothers, to handle the first critical months with their babies, she called for a ‘Paid Leave For All’ bill to be passed in the parliament.

She further expressed the dilemma of working parents who are often made to choose between a newborn and an office. Before concluding, Markle claimed that “No family should be faced with these decisions”. And with this, the Duchess broke yet another British tabloid of the Imperial Family. The Royals often maintain a neutral stance when it comes to politics. However, Markle has always backed her opinions on the welfare of society and its development. 

Manifesting the same, she, along with her husband, Prince Harry, renounced their UK sovereigns to live their lives as working members of the Royal Family. Ever since, they have been residing in the US, taking bold actions and making various changes to the society
