The 59-year-old director appeared in a recent interview with EW, where he discussed how he wanted to take a break from the fantasy genre and go back to his roots as a filmmaker. He further went on to talk about the leading actors’ reaction to the script and said, “Emily loved the character and she loved the idea of this story“. The 40-year-old actress is popular for taking up complex, multidimensional, and strong roles. Therefore, it was natural for her to like the character of Liza, who is “sometimes a little bit shady“.
Talking about the bona fide Captain America, Yates said he is excited about Evans inclining towards negative roles. The director took delight in inverting and turning the 42-year-old actors’ body of work and said, “Turning the guy who plays Captain America so beautifully… into a sleepy pharma rep was tempting“. Further describing Evans’ experience, he shared how the Ghosted actor enjoyed this transition and “found layers and levels in it“.
