Father is someone we love without measure but expressing these feelings can be a challenge. This is why celebrating Father’s Day becomes important. So, let us celebrate this special day by looking at some fictional fathers on Netflix, who have been somewhat of an inspiration for us.

It would be unfair if we didn’t celebrate these strong and inspiring fathers from our favorite Netflix movies and shows on Father’s Day. Here are some of the fathers who broke the boundaries and went above and beyond to be there for their children.

Big Fish (2003)

This movie is based on a novel, ‘Big Fish: A Novel of Mythic Proportions’ by an American author, Daniel Wallace. The main theme of the movie is the reconciliation of the father-son relationship between Edward (father) and William (son).

Will, at first, didn’t believe his father’s stories. He thought his father was lying and making things up since his childhood. But toward the end of the movie, we see Will believing his father as the characters from his stories appeared in front of him in real-life.

Even though Will didn’t believe Edward for a long period, Edward never stopped telling his stories. He didn’t stop loving Will. He always supported his son. That is what a father does.

Finding Nemo (2003)

If you want to know what an overprotective father looks like, have a look at this movie. Finding Nemo is the story of a father, Marlin, who lost all his family members and is determined to find his only son, Nemo.

Marlin goes above and beyond to find his lost son, Nemo. Nemo gets abducted by the Great Barrier Reef and is transported to Sydney. Marlin fights with everyone, gets in the way, and tries to save his son. While Nemo is away, he also remembers his father’s bravery and tries to find his way back home.

Father of the Year (2018)

Two drunk friends talk about who would win if their dads had a fight against each other. They take this talk seriously and all of them have to face the consequences. This Netflix Original movie showcases the psyche of two different kinds of fathers.

Because of Wayne, Ben, his son, loses his job. Wayne tries to make it right. This movie shows that even when facing criticism and comments from people around, a father tries to do right by his son. It is the perfect Netflix movie to celebrate a father and his craziness this Father’s Day.

My Octopus Teacher (2020)

My Octopus Teacher is a unique documentary on Netflix. This Oscar-winning documentary is about Craig Foster, who used to free-dive in False Bay, near Cape Town, South Africa. There he came across an octopus, who connected with him and vice versa.

He started documenting her, the octopus, till the end. He says that the octopus had taught him so much. He learned lessons about the fragile life and connected with nature deeply. After the death of the octopus, he started going there with his son and they started a project, Sea Change Project, to secure the sea life.

The Last Dance (2020)

The Last Dance is a sports documentary miniseries on Netflix. It recounts Michael Jordan‘s professional career and the Chicago Bulls. By using never-before-seen footage from the 1997-98 Bulls season, the documentary takes us through the journey of the inner life of one of the greatest basketball players.

Michael says in the documentary that he is what he is because of his coach. He says other than his parents, his coach was the one who influenced him greatly and called his coach a second father.

Fatherhood (2021)

As the name itself suggests, the movie follows the life of a father who is trying to raise a daughter. The movie is based on Matt Logelin‘s 2011 best-selling memoir, ‘Two Kisses for Maddy: A Memoir of Loss & Love.’

A mother dies after a year of giving birth to a daughter in Fatherhood. Maddy, a beautiful little girl, is raised by her single father, Matthew. So many difficulties, and a lot more criticism, but with tremendous support from the family; Matthew overcomes the difficulties and is always there for his daughter.

The father-daughter duo is super energetic and inspiring.

Yes Day (2021)

This American comedy-drama on Netflix is about a technique of parenting. Allison and Carlos Torres are married, and they have 3 children: Katie, Nando, and Ellie. Katie and Nando call their mother a dictator at school. Allison and Carlos have to go to the school and there they get the advice to give their children a yes day where they get to do whatever pleases them.

But they will get a yes day only if they would do their homework and household chores and keep their grades up. The movie will be a treat to watch with your father and mother sitting together.

The Adam Project (2022)

The time-traveling fighter pilot Adam Reed accidentally lands in 2022 in The Adam Project. He wanted to go to the year 2018. But here, in 2022, he meets his younger self.

He teams up with this boy and meets his father while time traveling. Louis Reed, played by Mark Ruffalo, is the father and he recognizes his child even though both the versions are there in front of him. All three become a team and they fight the enemy.

The reunion with the father and son is an overwhelming moment. They perfectly combined together science and emotions in this movie. Ryan Reynolds who plays the adult Adam in the movie claims this is his favorite movie his filmography.

Hustle (2022)

An NBA scout and coach, Stanley Sugerman, played by Adam Sandler, finds a potential player from Spain and trains him while risking everything. He loses his job in the process. But he doesn’t lose faith in Bo Cruz portrayed by Juancho Hernangómez.

Bo is also a father of a daughter. He does everything to protect her, including taking the offer from Stanley to play in the team. Stanley too has a teenage daughter, whom he loves dearly.

Both the different types of fathers become close to each other and have two things in common: their love for their daughters and for the game. Bo Cruz realizes the importance of the love that Stanley has provided him with. Bo considered Stanley like a father figure along with the coach.

Stranger Things (2016-2022)

We don’t have to talk much about this series as everybody is pretty hyped about it. But in this Stranger Things, amongst every exciting character, we have a father who is powerful and can go to any lengths to fight for the children: Jim Hopper.

He is seen grieving the loss of his daughter at the beginning of the series. Later, he becomes the most protective and strongest character, who helps these children, especially Eleven.
