The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic started the true era of binge-watching. Seemingly, The Stranger was a refugee for many. The eight episodes were brilliantly directed with soul startling mysteries. With almost every episode ending in suspense, this drama is binge-worthy. But will there be a season 2? If yes, what can we expect from it?

Season One leaves the story open-ended

Based on Harlan Coben’s novel, The Stranger plays out about the mysterious lives of its protagonists Adam Price, played by Richard Armitage, and, of course, a stranger who confronts something about his wife going missing. The last episode ended with Adam taking revenge for his wife’s death and the police covering up his case. However, the season leaves us with many unanswered questions. Firstly, will this vengeance caused by Adam, be out? Also, how will Price’s children react once they are exposed to the truth?

Further, towards the end, the stranger turns out to be Adam’s sister. There can be more than one secret digging up in their lives and newly found relationship. For instance, with characters having many intermingled threads, and many of them getting killed towards the end; fans may end up wondering if Christine was a professional blackmailer just for money or had a double face. The stranger going missing is the main reason fans can expect a spin-off or new season.

Is Season 2 of The Stranger coming to Netflix?

Although there is no official announcement for this designed-to-be-binged show, Harlan Coben passed a hint that there is very little chance of a second season. Talking to Digital Spy, Coben said, ”We don’t think it’s fair to have one of those shows where they don’t give you all the answers, and you have to wait until season two before you get it,” He further continued. “This is a closed story. You learned all the answers by the end, and the ending is tremendously satisfying.”

Surprisingly, he also teased, “Could some of the characters return to season two? Maybe, but that’s not our plan,” he added. “I never say never, but it’s not our plan. Our plan is to give you one great, great season.”

So who could be some of the characters that can be seen in season 2? Given the director needs to explore the story, the only thing we know is that the stranger might return. Hence, we can expect to see Hannah John-Kamen. Moreover, one can also expect Adam’s sons (Jacob Dudman and Misha Handley) to play a major role in season 2. All the other characters that stayed alive in season one might make a comeback.
