‘Bridgerton’ Takes the Backseat, as 3 Netflix Shows Bunny Jump Ahead of the Regency Drama on the Netflix Charts
Ball Gowns, never-ending parties, charming men, and of course the posh British accent. The periodic drama Bridgerton is a perfect escape from modern times into the fantasy land of England’s Regency Era. Right from the release, the Netflix original was buzzing for its beautiful binge-able quality of episodes. The show was created by Chris Van Dusen, co-produced by Shonda Rhimes of Grey’s Anatomy, and based on the novel series by Author Julia Quinn.
When Bridgerton had its Christmas release in 2020, it was one of the most successful launches for the streaming giant. Any show’s success on Netflix is based upon the viewing hours of the first 28 days of the show’s release. So while the Regency romance enjoyed its glory, competing shows started to catch up fast and hopped ahead. And these shows are ranked as per their viewership numbers below.
Top three shows that beat the record of British drama Bridgerton

The first season of Bridgerton received a whooping viewership of 625.5 million in its first 28 days. It starred Rege-Jean Page and Phoebe Dynevor in the lead. Due to its massive success, the show was brought in for a second season with some fresh faces. The second season came out in March 2022 and was led by Simone Ashley and Jonathan Bailey, adding a dose of diversity to the alternate history. This gained the season a total viewership of 627.11 million viewership. Both seasons had eight episodes and had record-breaking numbers making Bridgeton the first-ever on Netflix to hold both first and second place in the list of top shops. The series has taken a backseat now, with three shows running ahead of it.

This was followed by Stranger Things, which is currently the hottest topic as a Netflix original. It aired its first season. The 80’s based sci-fi show was a Duffer brother’s creation and spread like a wildfire winning several awards and recognition.

Another International series to jump ahead of Bridgerton was the Spanish crime-drama series Money Heist. It follows members of a theft group planning a heist to rob two major banks. The Alexa Pina creation had a total of five seasons, with its final one receiving a total viewership of 792.2 million.

Of course, it’s a matter of time before some other show tosses off these records as well. The platform’s ever-increasing reach and projects are based on a rock-solid base of Netflix junkies. Bridgerton is also set to be back for a third season, until then the show’s lover can re-watch the episodes.
