Before Picking Henry Cavill or Aaron Taylor Johnson, the Next James Bond Film Looks to Hire Phoebe Waller-Bridge as Writer
A fan-favorite franchise is finding its new James Bond. While The Witcher star, Henry Cavill, and other actors are in line to play the character, the franchise wants to bring back the Fleabag star, Phoebe Waller-Bridge as the writer and director. Will she be able to make it?
As reported by Daily Mail, the producer of the classic franchise, Barbara Broccoli, wants Waller-Bridge to direct and co-write the next Bond film. She helped with a previous film, No Time To Die, and added humor and pathos as well. While making it his last film, Daniel Craig who sacrificed himself in the film, brought Phoebe Waller-Bridge into the franchise.

While everyone loved her and her work, Broccoli opened up about how she felt about the Fleabag star. Phoebe Waller-Bridge would be the first choice of producer of one of the oldest franchises. She believed the 37-year-old actress had a uniquely modern take on the character which made the film feel fresh and interesting.
Before choosing the lead actor for the franchise’s next film, the franchise wants to lock in the screenplay writer and director. Although many actors, including, Regé-Jean Page, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and more are the names that are circulating around the character. While the British actress clears out her schedule to be a part of the iconic franchise, what else is she doing?

Indiana Jones is another major franchise that will see Waller-Bridge in the upcoming film. The film will premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in the forthcoming month. The English star is also writing a script for the Amazon series as well. Apart from that, she is going to star in a 2024 comedy alongside the Deadpool actor, Ryan Reynolds, and Steve Carrell.
Because of her jam-packed schedule, it might be possible for her to keep the Bond film on hold. However, as Barbara Broccoli revealed, the film still did not have a lead actor. Therefore, finding the perfect British actor for the role would anyway require some time. Moreover, they are not planning to move the film into production until next year.
