The Purge saga kickstarted in 2013 as a simple home invasion thriller. But it soon morphed into a complex, cross-country series that can be a bit of a puzzle to piece together sometimes. Like many films, The Purge was offered for rental through Netflix’s DVD subscription service. However, the OTT giant decided to wind down this service. 

Among the two movies, The First Purge, although the fourth in theatrical release, was the first installment. This prequel took fans back to March 21, 2017, when The Purge was just a sociological experiment limited to Staten Island. Last but certainly not least among the best Netflix horror movies, is The Wretched. Released in 2019, this film grabbed attention for its unique storyline. It revolved around a rebellious teenage boy who discovered that his next-door neighbor was a witch in disguise.
