The Purge saga kickstarted in 2013 as a simple home invasion thriller. But it soon morphed into a complex, cross-country series that can be a bit of a puzzle to piece together sometimes. The films explored the societal impact of the Purge across different classes and races. To add more confusion, The Purge series extended into a TV spin-off. Even with lukewarm reviews from critics, the movie series still pulled the masses to theaters for every installment.

The Purge movies follow a timeline, even though they are mostly anthologies with a rotating cast of main characters. Here are the ways to watch this movie series on streaming platforms like Netflix.

The Purge movies can be found on Netflix. However, they are limited to specific regions. For those who reside in the United States,  only two are up for grabs: The Purge: Election Year and The First Purge. And for those wanting to stream all The Purge movies, HBO and its streaming services are the go-to option. Like many films, The Purge was offered for rental through Netflix’s DVD subscription service. However, the OTT giant decided to wind down this service.

Among the two movies, The First Purge, although the fourth in theatrical release, was the first installment. This prequel took fans back to March 21, 2017, when The Purge was just a sociological experiment limited to Staten Island. While there are many other sources from where one can rent The Purge movies, it is not the only option for a good horror cinematic experience on streaming platforms.

The first pick is Insidious, a 2010 horror film directed by James Wan. This movie revolves around a family and some seriously unexplained things happening in their new house. Onto the second pick, there is the 2016 Blair Witch. This storyline followed James as he stumbled upon intriguing footage revealing his missing sister, Heather. He then assembled a group of friends to go to the same woods where Heather disappeared years ago.

Indulging in John Carpenter’s Vampires is an absolute guilty pleasure. Vampires threaten humanity, and the Vatican assembled slayers to prevent an ancient relic from falling into their hands. Last but certainly not least among the best Netflix horror movies, is The Wretched. Released in 2019, this film grabbed attention for its unique storyline. It revolved around a rebellious teenage boy who discovered that his next-door neighbor was a witch in disguise.
