With the release of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, fans were awaiting to meet the newest baddie Kang and a host of other characters. But they were also expecting an element they had grown to love in the Ant-Man films. However, the latest installment didn’t include what the fans call a “huge ingredient.” And when you do away with a fan favorite, you cannot help but face the wrath of the fandom. And that’s exactly what the director, Peyton Reed, is facing right now!

Phase 5 was expected to start with a bang, but rather it began with a stinker. And Fans have found another reason to blame the film’s failing their expectations.

Fans slam Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and its director for cutting Luis from the narrative 

When Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania reached theaters, fans were expecting to reunite with the mainstays of Team Ant-Man: Scott Lang’s three best friends. The trio had become extremely popular with the crowd, with Michael Pena’s Luis earning the most chuckles with the ability to recall crazy events. Unfortunately, none of them showed up. 

Michael Pena’s absence from the movie didn’t sit well with Marvel fans. They took to Twitter to express the unfairness dealt to the character Luis because he was almost like a family to Lang. Bridging the Quantum family and cutting him out didn’t make sense. They further suggested a million ways writers could have weaved in a Luis cameo in the narrative. 

In the wake of the massive backlash, Reed addressed the reason he dropped Luis from Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania in a chat with Hollywood Reporter. He revealed that the run-time was not enough to incorporate all the characters and their stories. They had to pick and choose what they wanted to tell. 

“We had to make decisions early on about what stories we could tell and what stories we couldn’t tell,” he said. He acknowledged that Luis was indeed a very important part of the Lang family, but he had no place in the threequel. 

Ant-Man 3 is now tied with Eternals with the lowest RT score 

The Paul Rudd starrer received a tepid response upon its release. It was supposed to kick off phase 5 and was a vehicle for Kang to make an entry into the MCU. However, it has earned the worst-rated MCU movie with a 47% score on Rotten Tomatoes along with Eternals. But it sits at 48% audience score, slightly higher than the latter.
