After the success of the previous films, The Holmes siblings will be back with yet another exciting adventure. If the viewers are up for Enola’s fight against the patriarchal mindset, there is definitely a need for another film. However, unlike the original book, the streaming giant showcased the love story of Lord Tewkesbury and Enola Holmes as one of the primary stories. Because it creates a huge diversion from the main theme, there is no need to dwell on the romance.

Moreover, in the second installment of the film, the viewers see Enola concerned about her brother, Sherlock’s well-being and vice versa. Both siblings pushed each other to be the best in their work. While Enola brought challenges to Sherlock, her brother in return supported her dream. Hence, they complement each other against the common notions of the contemporary era. If the third installment would explore more of their adventures while highlighting them as detectives, the viewers are in for a thrilling treat.

Interestingly, the second installment of the Enola Holmes franchise did not entirely rely on the original book. Despite the major differences, the film was a success. Nevertheless, the third film should follow the source material to incorporate the authenticity of the titular character’s journey like the books.

What happened to Enola Holmes in the book?

Netflix adapted the plot from Nancy Springer’s original book series. The Netflix adaptations made many huge changes from the source material, especially in the second installment. But originally in the books, Lord Tewkesbury appeared only in the first book. His relationship with Enola stayed completely platonic. Ultimately, after fighting for her right to be independent, Enola finds herself at the end of the series.

What follows is a feeling of liberation from the bandage of society, her family, and her fears that inspires her to follow the path she created for herself. Being the title character of the novel series, the original book takes the readers on an exciting journey of women’s empowerment. The Stranger Things star herself highlighted the theme with a heartwarming message to all the female warriors.
