With all the eyes it’s been turning, it’s not an unknown fact that Cobra Kai is a spin-off to the iconic original Karate Kid films. Renewed after 35 years of the first film’s release, the series follows the lives of the protagonists from the original movies—Ralph Macchio’s Daniel LaRusso and William Zabka’s Johnny Lawrence. But it isn’t just these two characters we see from the films in the series. Here are all the Cobra Kai characters recurring from the Karate Kid films: then vs now.

Ralph Macchio as Daniel LaRusso

Don’t let his baby face fool you. Ralph Macchio may be starry-eyed as ever and, not to mention, the badass karate he does in Cobra Kai, but this actor is 60 years old. Although he looked unbelievably young, Macchio was actually 22 during the first Karate Kid film’s release and is currently 60.

William Zabka as Johnny Lawrence

Another actor who doesn’t seem to age is William Zabka. His physique might be misleading but this actor is 56. During the time the karate kid films were released, Zabka was the only teenager on set at the age of 18 and he still remains the youngest among the recurring actors in the Netflix Original.

Martin Kove as John Kreese

Kove plays the role of Johnny’s quite dreadful sensei, John Kreese. Kove was 40 during the release of the first Karate Kid film and is 75 now. The Karate isn’t much of an issue to him, though. The actor remains one of the only actors in the films and the Netflix series who qualifies as a martial artist.

Thomas Ian Griffith as Terry Silver

Another name on the list of ‘Characters That Have The Potential to Zap The Living Joy Out Of Any Scene’ is Terry Silver, played by Thomas Ian Griffith. Silver probably tops this list as the most shrewd character of the series with no redeeming qualities. Griffith is much younger than the role he plays, being 21 when the first Karate Kid film came out and 59 now. In fact, he is younger than Ralph Macchio!
