Throughout his career, Will Smith has cemented himself as one of the most successful actors of our generation. The actor has given countless hit films and starred in innumerable popular shows as well. While he enjoys a plethora of films under his belt, I Am Legend has carved a separate niche. The film was a massive financial success for Smith, as it grossed over half a billion dollars worldwide. And as the film is likely to get a sequel, there seems to be a major diversion in the storyline yet again.

Based on a post-apocalyptic novel of the same name by Richard Matheson, I Am Legend garnered mixed reactions from the fans. Even though they enjoyed the post-apocalyptic action thriller, its ending did not sit right with the fans.

How is the movie going to be different from the book? 

The film took a different route from the book as it had a completely different ending. Rather than the novel’s ending that saw Robert Neville live, the film’s ending showed how the Darkseekers got Neville. As reported by Screenrant, the writer and producer of the film Akiva Goldsman confirmed that the sequel will follow the film’s alternate ending where Nevill lived. Furthermore, he realizes the Darkseekers had formed their own society and are capable of loving and forming a community.

Most likely, the sequel will also be continuing on the same path as the alternate ending where Neville survives. However, following the film’s alternate ending will also result in a shift from the storyline. As the story will take place after almost 20-30 years since the alternate ending, the Darkseekers are likely to be even stronger.

Meanwhile, the latest addition to the cast a.k.a. Michael B. Jordan will result in a greater divergence from the books. As of late, the character Michael B. Jordan will be playing remains a mystery. However, the latest reports suggest how the Creed star could play Neville’s son born during the time gap.

When will the Will Smith starrer I Am Legend 2 premiere?

As we all know, I Am Legend was one of the most successful films by the actor. Owing to Smith’s incredible performance as scientist Neville, fans have been demanding more of the actor in the role.

And after Michael B. Jordan joined the crew, the hype surrounding the film skyrocketed. I Am Legend 2 is likely to premiere later in 2024. However, as of late, the exact release date is not known.
