After Steven Spielberg’s Netflix Deal, Martin Scorsese and His Movie on the OTT Gets a Release Date and a Teaser
Steven Spielberg delighted fans with his news of joining Netflix. In June 2021, Netflix signed a multi-year deal to release feature films for Netflix. While the multi-year deal duration was not revealed, Netflix had bound the owner of Amblin Entertainment to produce at least two films every year. The Jurassic Park creator was responsible for blockbusters earning $1.1 billion worldwide. And as it turns out, he was also behind the inspiration of Margot Robbie and her big plans for Barbie.
This legendary filmmaker joined hands with another stalwart in the industry: Martin Scorsese. And together with Bradley Cooper they0 produced the 2023 biographical romantic drama, Maestro.

Maestro is all set to make its theatrical release briefly before its availability on the streaming giant. This movie was written, directed, and produced by the A Star is Born actor. It is set to be a periodic romantic drama following the relationship between famous American composer Leonard Bernstein and his wife Felicia Montealegre. After speculations of being released in the fall, Netflix finally published its release dates. The film will hit theaters for a brief period on November 22, 2023. It will then drop on Netflix on December 20 of the same year.
Netflix also gave the fans an exciting new first look at the drama. The teaser showed Cooper as Burnstein, who was known for his humanitarian efforts. Opposite him was Carey Mulligan, playing his Costa Rican actress wife. Burnstein, apart from being a social worker, taught piano too. His relationship with his famous wife was special, topped with their common social activism efforts. This biopic trails their romantic journey, one where they shared work in his symphony orchestras.
While the teaser sets excitement to watch an unrecognizable Cooper play another music-related role, the cast had to face disappointment at a special event.
Absence of the director/producer/writer at the premiere
Maestro turned out to be highly anticipated for more reasons than one. Apart from the plot and the period they were diving into, the crew ensemble was thrilling. Pretty soon, the much-awaited movie got selected to feature at the Venice Film Festival. But the Cooper-directed biopic did not see the director at the festival himself. While luck favored them in terms of wrapping up productions, the premiere did not see The Hangover actor due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike.
