Shows from Netflix UK & Ireland don’t get as much attention as their US counterparts. But, just like the Chemistry subject, there are exceptions everywhere. Ricky Gervais’ After Life piqued the audience’s curiosity, with season 3 premiering on Netflix. However, the third season will be the final season of the dramedy series.

If you are a fan of After Life, the news about season 3 might be disappointing or even fill you with rage. But ironically enough, the British show had been preparing you for moments like these. So, fans can save their tears for now as Netflix is yet to drop the last season.

Netflix made the announcement via a tweet from the official Netflix UK & Ireland handle. Fans received the mixed news on December 14, with a cute poster of Tony walking his dog, Brandy. The tagline on the poster seemed like a message to console the viewers, which read: “Every end is a new beginning.”

Netflix will release the third season of After Life on January 14, 2022, just one month after the announcement. With only one month left to the release and no new trailer from Netflix, fans would have had to do a lot of guesswork. Thus, Netflix released exclusive first look photos of season 3.

The synopsis and cast of the final season

Tony (Ricky Gervais) had troubles moving on from his wife Lisa’s (Kerry Goldman) untimely death. However, as seasons passed, Tony’s condition improved with the help of Matt (Tom Basden), his brother-in-law. The third season will showcase Tony enjoying his life to the fullest.

The recurring cast will include:

More to come from After Life creator?

Ricky Gervais will not completely end his association with Netflix. The ‘After Life’ creator is already in talks with Netflix to collaborate on three new projects. “I’ve got it down to three totally different ideas and Netflix has already bought it because I told them I want to end After Life now and so they said, ‘OK, we want the next thing’,” Ricky told Sirius XM Radio.
